Our Mission
Thailand Stories exists to bring nuance to a subject that gets very little of it: relationships between foreigners and Thai women.
Online, the conversation tends to collapse into two extremes — the idealized fairy tale of "true love found in paradise," or the cynical warning that every relationship is a financial trap. Neither version reflects what we've heard from the people who've actually lived it.
What we're trying to do
We collect and tell Thailand stories that show the full range: relationships built on genuine care, others built on deception, and the much larger number that sit somewhere in between — complicated, imperfect, and still worth understanding honestly.
Who this is for
We write for people who are dating, engaged to, or married to a Thai partner and want to recognize their own experience in someone else's story. We also write for people doing research before they commit to a relationship, trying to tell a healthy cultural difference apart from a genuine red flag.
What we won't do
We won't publish a story purely because it's dramatic. We won't romanticize exploitation, and we won't paint every relationship as a scam. When a story involves financial abuse or deception, we treat it as a cautionary account, not entertainment.
How we measure success
If someone reading a story here recognizes a pattern in their own relationship — good or bad — before it's too late to act on it, we've done what we set out to do. Read more about who's behind this work on our editorial team page.
